The La Costa Dental team would like to thank our south Texas patients from Port Arthur, Corpus Christi, and Beaumont for all you do to reduce your eco-footprint. This Earth Day, we hope you’ll take some time to celebrate by cleaning up a local park, planting a tree, or starting a new recycling project. Whatever you do to celebrate Earth Day on Sunday, April, 22nd, we thank you for doing your part to make our south Texas communities great places to live and work. The La Cost Dental team does its part to reduce waste and raise awareness about environmental concerns, and we’re always happy to see our patients, families, friends, and neighbors in Beaumont, Port Arthur, and Corpus Christi doing the same.
History of the Earthy Day Celebration
After seeing the results of a 1969 oil spill off the coast of Santa Barbara, Wisconsin senator, Gaylord Nelson, decided something needed to be done to raise awareness about the impact we have on our environment. Nelson decided to host a “teach-in” to tell people about the way our actions impact the earth. This teach-in was organized with the intention of commemorating the first annual national day to consider environmental impact – Earth Day. The first Earth Day was celebrated on April 22, 1970. Democratic senator, Nelson, partnered with republican congressman Pete McCloskey, and Harvard University professor, Dennis Hayes, to offer education for people about how we impact our environment and ways to make positive changes to improve the earth. For nearly five decades, Earth Day has been a time for people from all political parties and cultures to come together to make a positive impact on our environment.
La Costa Dental Going Green with Digital Technology
You may have noticed that La Costa Dental rarely uses paper files or develops physical x-rays. That’s because we are doing our best to become a digital office. This reduces our paper and chemical waste. Shifting from traditional analog x-rays to digital imaging offers improved care for patients as well as virtually eliminating our practice’s chemical waste. Traditional x-rays were developed using hazardous chemicals. Digital x-rays remove the need for these chemical in our office and reduce radiation exposure. This is great for the environment, and it improves safety for our patients and team members. If you want to learn more about La Costa Dental, give our team a call today to schedule an appointment with us. We welcome patients from throughout south Texas, and we have five conveniently located office locations. We have three Corpus Christi dentistry practices on Ayers Street, Kostoryz Road, and Leopard Street. You can also find a La Costa Dental office in Port Arthur and Beaumont.
