What are porcelain veneers?
Porcelain veneers are thin covers placed over the visible part of your tooth. They’re a natural-looking solution that can address a variety of common tooth concerns.
What can veneers correct?
Porcelain veneers can help improve:
- Chipped or cracked teeth
- Uneven spaces or gaps between teeth
- Crooked or misshapen teeth
- Mild misalignment
- Stained or discolored teeth that can’t be fixed with whitening
How are porcelain veneers placed?
To prepare your teeth, your dentist may remove a small amount of enamel from the front and sides of your teeth, making room for your veneers. They’ll also make a mold of your teeth, which will be sent to a dental lab to make the porcelain veneers that will custom fit your teeth.
Until your veneers are ready from the lab, which may take several days, you may get temporary veneers to wear. Once the porcelain veneers are ready, you’ll visit your dentist again.
Your dentist will then place the veneers on your teeth, checking the fit, shape, and color. After making any adjustments, the veneers are cleaned and then bonded to your teeth.
What are other benefits of veneers?
Veneers are natural-looking, strong, and long lasting. They can easily correct dental issues to improve your smile. Since your natural tooth is still completely intact, you still have the option of removing veneers in the future.
